Johnny Bedford: I'm here to be the greatest bare knuckle boxer of all time, I'm gonna win both belts
Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship 135-pound champion "Brutal" Johnny Bedford will defend his belt against Dat Nguyen at BKFC: KnuckleMania in Tampa, Florida this Friday night.
Bedford recently spoke with Josh Fers of Combat Insiders ahead of his championship defense on the promotion's biggest card to date.
The former UFC competitor in Bedford has been one of BKFC's most active and most dominant competitors. Having competed and gone undefeated through five contests with the promotion, Bedford has left no doubt as to why he is the top fighter in his division.
While he may be a star at 135-pounds, Bedford discussed the possibility of moving up a weight class.
"I think it is 145 (pounds)," Bedford said when asked who his next fight might be against should he get past Nguyen on February 5.
"As much as Reggie (Barnett) deserves it, I don't think Bare Knuckle (FC) is interested in doing the rematch right away," Bedford said. Barnett and Bedford clashed at BKFC 6 in June 2019 with Bedford getting his hand raised unanimously.
"I think the hottest division in bare knuckle could possibly be 145," the champ continued. "I'm ready to go up. I'm here to be the greatest bare knuckle boxer of all time. I'm gonna win both belts."
