Sam Shewmaker was originally scheduled to fight Mark Godbeer in the main event of BKFC 15 on Friday night in Biloxi, Mississippi. Instead, "The Hillybilly Hammer" now faces Bobo O'Bannon on short notice after Godbeer fell ill last week.

Shewmaker recently spoke with Dylan Bowker of MyMMANews and reflected on a recent boxing match he had against Kenzie Morrison, son of the late boxing legend, Tommy Morrison.

Thomas Morrison was a professional boxer who competed from 1988 to 1996, and held the WBO heavyweight title in 1993. He retired from boxing in 1996 when he tested positive for HIV. Morrison is also known for his acting career, having starred alongside Sylvester Stallone in the 1990 film Rocky V as Tommy Gunn. Morrison died on died on September 1, 2013.

Shewmaker would go on to lose the contest by way of second round knockout but the experience was one that he will never forget.

“It’s pretty cool to be able to take part in something like that," Shewmaker said. "To be able to fight a legend’s son like that. Kenzie‘s a good fighter. It was a good hard match and you know definitely learned a lot from it. Excited to be there that night. A little bit of history. Little bit of my history. A little bit of his.”

Shewmaker's return to bare knuckle marks his sixth event with the promotion. "The Hillbilly Hammer" has found the likes of Eric Prindle, Maurice Jackson, Arnold Adams, Joel Parades, and Chase Sherman, all on the promotion's first five fight cards.
